It’s the first Friday of the month, so that means it’s time for Funding Fridays.

DocSend just released a report on Pre-seed funding. According to their research, in order to make your Pre-Seed pitch successful you must: (1) Be Succinct and clear as VCs spent less time than ever evaluating decks in 2022. (2) Make an immediate impact as investors gave more scrutiny to the company purpose section (typically the opening pitch deck slide). (3) Ensure your traction is convincing and digestible as VCs gave extra scrutiny to the traction of companies that didn’t get funding. Interestingly, since the red-hot fundraising days of 2021, DocSend’s Pitch Deck Interest Metrics show that VC engagement with decks has fallen 23% since the start of 2022. At the same time, however, founders are growing more active: our data shows that founders are sending out 30% more pitch decks since the start of 2022. Check out the report for a deeper dive.
